Movement Focus: Vertical extension of the ankles knees and hips while maintaining a balance Fore & Aft position
Description: While in a flexed stationary position, or to increase the challenge while moving, extend the ankles, knees and hips to jump vertically into the air, and then landing while flexing the same joints to absorb the landing.
Benefits: Developing the ability to stay in balance along the length of the ski
SnoweLab Tips: Jumping is fund way to develop a sense of balance and range of movement from all levels. From a first timer to show them that there skis are not glued to the snow, to helping with take off and landing on natural and man made features.
Variations: You can start statically, and try to jump while keeping the tips on the ground, then with the tails on the ground, then tips to take a and heels to land and vice versa. You can then add into skiing, by starting on some small natural features, or even play with jumping during the transition
